Dr. Robert Newman, originally from Omaha, NE, earned his undergraduate degree in Biology from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln before going on to receive his veterinary degree from the University of Missouri-Columbia. Following this, he completed several post-doctoral surgical specialty internships, including one here at Southwest Veterinary Surgical Service. Additionally, he spent a year conducting research and clinical trials in veterinary orthopedics at Colorado State University.

Dr. Newman rejoined SVSS in 2021 for his surgical residency, during which he successfully completed the requirements to become a board-certified surgeon. In March 2025, he passed his board exams and officially became a Diplomate of the American College of Veterinary Surgeons.

Outside of work, Dr. Newman enjoys outdoor activities, spending time with his girlfriend and family, and supporting the Kansas City Chiefs and Royals.
