Dr. Jose Zayas was born and raised on the island of Puerto Rico. He received his undergraduate degree at the University of Puerto Rico at Cayey Campus in Natural Sciences in 2016. He then attended Tuskegee University College of Veterinary Medicine graduating with honors in 2020. Following graduation in order to achieve his surgical specialty career he moved to Charlotte, North Carolina and completed a small animal medicine & surgery rotating internship in 2021. In order to concentrate more in surgery he moved to the state of Texas where he pursued two specialty surgical internships and completed them in 2022-2023. In July of 2023 after being accepted into the Southwest Veterinary Surgical Service surgical residency program he moved to Arizona. During his free time he likes going to breweries, hiking with his dogs, and always a little bit of competition playing beach volleyball.
