Omar Gonzalez, DVM, MS

Dr. Omar Gonzalez attended Tuskegee University where he obtained his DVM degree in 2013. After graduation he completed a small animal medicine and surgery internship at Auburn University in 2014. He then attended Kansas State University where he received his surgical residency training and at the same time he obtained his Masters of Science Degree in 2017. Dr. Gonzalez earned diplomate status with the American College of Veterinary Surgeons – Small Animal in 2020. He moved to Arizona to join Midwestern University College of Veterinary Medicine after his surgical residency where he served as one of the small animal faculty surgeons for 4 years. Dr. Gonzalez joined the Southwest Veterinary Surgical Service, PC team in early spring of 2022. He enjoys all aspects of veterinary surgery, particularly orthopedic surgery, wound repair, and reconstruction. “There is nothing more satisfying than being able to help patients that have suffered from major trauma, and are left with a complex fracture or a major wound or skin defect, return to a functional and healthy life.” Dr. Gonzalez is a member of the Arizona Veterinary Medical Association, the American Veterinary Medical Association, and the American College of Veterinary Surgeons.
